A regeneration project of this scale requires careful planning. Many different engineering and design projects need to be co-ordinated to successfully redevelop the site.

There will be lots of activity on-site in the coming months. This will include:

• Construction of the road leading from the Houston Road entrance to the heart of the site, for contractors’ vehicles
• Starting construction of a new office building for the Environmental Test Facility – a BAE Systems business that will remain, located in the south eastern sector of the former Royal Ordnance site
• Detailed designs for the first phases of the land preparation (remediation) process
• Engineering design of the two new access roads from the north and south of Bishopton
• Design and planning the installation of drainage and utilities to serve the new development
• Further planning to protect local wildlife and enhance habitats
• Completing the Design Code for the early phases of the new development
• Working with a selection of developers to bring forward the early parts of the development
