Structure Plan examination in public

In December 2006, the Scottish Executive announced that there would be an Examination in Public into certain aspects of the proposal contained in the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan Third Alteration 2006 to designate Bishopton as a Community Growth Area:

1   Do either the presence of contamination within the former Royal Ordnance Factory site, or the measures required for its remediation, raise issues of sufficient concern to preclude the identification of Bishopton as a Community Growth Area?
2   Does the capacity of the road and rail network preclude the identification of Bishopton as a Community Growth Area?

The Scottish Ministers have invited the following list of organisations and individuals have been invited to participate in the Examination:

1 Bishopton Action Group
2 Bishopton Community Council
3 Houston Community Council
4 Glasgow and the Clyde Valley Joint Structure Plan Committee
5 Renfrewshire Council
6 Cass Associates (on behalf of BAE Systems and Redrow)
7 Scottish Environment Protection Agency
8 Transport Scotland

The Examination will commence at 9:30am on 19 April 2007 in the Inchinnan Room, Erskine Bridge Hotel, Erskine. The Examination will take the form of a structured discussion led by a Scottish Executive Inquiry Reporter.

The Examination will consider the background to the Structure Plan proposal for Bishopton on 19 April, issues relating to transport capacity on 8 and 9 May 2007, and issues relating to contamination and decontamination on 10 and 11 May 2007. Members of the public may attend these sessions as observers. The Reporter will visit Bishopton on 20 April 2007 accompanied by representatives of the participants.
