Over the next two years many engineering operations at the site will be in progress at the same time. Throughout 2011 and early 2012 our focus will be on preparing the land. We expect construction of the first housing development to begin in Autumn 2012. These timings provide you with a rough guide and may be subject to change.
May 2011 – July 2011
The new access for construction traffic on Houston Road will be completed. This will allow the early engineering works such as building demolition and preparation of the land to begin in a number of areas of the site. These will include:
- The area which will become the landfill facility
- The ‘borrow pit’ in the north western corner of the site (from which clay will be extracted)
At this time signs will be placed at local road junctions to direct site traffic to the new access on Houston Road. This access point will be called the Georgetown Reception Centre.
July 2011 – September 2011
We will complete construction of the landfill facility. It will receive material from this site only. Demolition of buildings in some areas will take place.
October 2011 – March 2012
The demolition of buildings in the north eastern and south eastern sectors of the development area will be completed and preparation of the land for building will begin.
Reshaping of the land will then take place to either accommodate new infrastructure or accept new development. The construction of the northern access road will start in Autumn 2011 whilst the construction of the southern access road will begin in Spring 2012. These two access roads will allow the initial stages of development in the north eastern and south eastern corners of the development area to begin.
April 2012 – March 2013
Work will continue on preparing the land for development so that house construction in the north eastern part of the development can start by Autumn 2012.
Construction should start in the south eastern area by Spring 2013.
March 2013
Other parts of the site will be prepared for new development. We will provide updated information as work progresses.
